We asked a recruiter for their 6 top tips for video interviews

We approached a spotter for their 6 top tips for video interviews This article was written in a joint effort with Capgemini Consulting. Discover progressively about jobs and openings accessible at Capgemini Consulting by downloading the Debut application. Its the piece of the enrollment procedure that overwhelms a large portion of us. Video interviews?! We live in the realm of Snapchat and Instagram Stories Ive got this taken care of, huge numbers of us may think however video interviews appear to be such a great amount of simpler than they truly are. Lamentably, video interviews arent for everybody; we cant all be stars of the screen all things considered. Indeed, even in this time of web based life and YouTube influencers, there are a few essentials to bossing a video talk with we as a whole need to know. All things considered, dread not, on the grounds that weve looked all over for someone who can spare video from slaughtering the meeting star, and his name is Christopher Baird a Management Consultant at Capgemini. We inquired as to whether he could uncover the spiritualist methods of the video meeting, and he mercifully obliged. For what reason do bosses use video interviews? Indeed, on the grounds that bodies talk, as is commonly said. Non-verbal communication, hand motions and outward appearances are extremely significant in correspondence, and you don't get any of these with a phone talk with, Christopher says. What's more, its actual, video meeting gives you that additional component of human contact with a business you wouldnt get without being there eye to eye. A video meet is your opportunity to truly pass on what youre energetic about, at your own pace, and without the thousand-yard puncturing gaze of a scout on you. The Dos Do a trial The entire itll be okay on the night mindset? Definitely, it doesnt truly fly for video interviews. There are many moving parts your experience, your lighting, your mouthpiece and camera. Its not as straightforward as it appears. Christopher says: This applies both to the innovation and your general meeting planning. Ensure the innovation (webcam, mouthpiece and so on.) works and that everything glances great in the last account. Take a gander at the camera, not the screen On the off chance that there was ever a brilliant principle for a video talk with circumstance, its this: oppose the impulse to take a gander at yourself on the screen. Youll look like youre gazing at the ground and that is not a solid look. Looking legitimately into the webcam may feel peculiar, yet it gives the fantasy of eye to eye connection, so ensure you keep it at eye-level. It may appear to be unnatural, so set aside the effort to work on addressing questions while taking a gander at the camera, not the screen, Christopher suggests. Act naturally They state in Hollywood you have to counterfeit it till you make it. For video interviews, you should keep it legit. Doing a video meet isn't a reason to put over a phony form of you since you have practice time. Present yourself truly, imperfections and everything. Christopher notes: Capgemini puts a ton of significance on the individuals it enlisted people, and we need to become acquainted with the genuine you. We're commonly truly acceptable at spotting where up-and-comers are constraining themselves to go over with a particular goal in mind, and on the off chance that you break through to the vis-à-vis interviews, we'll unquestionably have the option to detect any inconsistencies. The Donts Talking discreetly or murmuring Video meeting is about substance as much for what it's worth about visuals. Ensure youre talking with clear expression and at a volume that individuals can really hear you. It may be extreme with your housemates still snoozing at 11am, however dont stress, you can deal with it. In a phone or eye to eye meet, the questioner has the chance to request that the up-and-comer make some noise or to explain a point they have made, yet video interviews don't take into account this revision. In the event that the individual auditing the video meet experiences issues hearing you, you'll have less possibility of a fruitful result, Christopher calls attention to. Getting excessively agreeable Its your home, so your principles, isn't that so? Wrong. Laying back on your bed or getting dressed distinctly over the midriff can spell debacle in a video meet. Pick an expert looking setting and dress savvy from head to toe. Its everything about having the correct attitude, and this will assist you with arriving. Christophers prompts: Doing a video meet from your lounge or room may make it enticing to overlook that you're participating in a proper meeting process. In the event that conceivable, I'd suggest that you sit at a table or a work area with a genuinely nonpartisan foundation and great lighting. Getting hindered We as a whole observed what occurred with this helpless person on the BBC. Dont be the following casualty; ensure everybody you live with knows about whats going on when youre doing your video meet, in case one of your housemates shows up half-wearing the foundation Christopher finishes up: If you're living with another person, let them know ahead of time when you will do the meeting, and inquire as to whether they can leave you undisturbed for the term of the meeting. What's more, there you have it, you are honorary pathway prepared for your next meeting. Presently get out there, and make yourself a star, kid. Not Having a Mentor is the Number One Career Mistake - Hallie Crawford

Not Having a Mentor is the Number One Career Mistake - Hallie Crawford We talk about mentors a lot- and while we are growing up, almost every adult could be considered a mentor for one reason or another. But many times when we enter the workforce, the general idea seems to be that since we are adults we no longer need a mentor. This is a huge mistake. Our success in the business world can be directly connected to whether or not we have a mentor. Having a career mentor can help us continue to grow, to make better business decisions, to find our career direction, and give us the motivation we need. These three tips can help you find a mentor to help you be successful in your field. Look for a mentor program within your company. Many companies offer a mentor program, but it may not be advertised. Check with work mates who have been with the company for awhile to see if there is anyone available to mentor. It is important to note that the person with the most seniority in your current company may not be the best choice for a mentor. Find someone who can help you with your career goals, who you respect and who sets a good example. If you are a woman, your mentor doesnt necessarily have to be a woman, and the same is true with men. Action tip: Decide what you would like to learn and in what areas having a mentor could most benefit you. Now think about who could help you the most in those areas in your current company. Ask them if they would be willing to be your mentor, explaining to them the qualities you admire and the things you want to learn from them. Take your mentoring relationship seriously. In order to regularly to benefit from your mentors wisdom and expertise you have to be serious about keeping in touch with them. Many choose to make a formal agreement to help both parties take their new relationship seriously. Make a schedule together and stick to it. Decide together whether you will meet weekly, monthly or something else based on your goals. Otherwise, you mentor will probably feel that he could have chosen a different, more appreciative person to mentor. Remember that having a mentor is an asset and view them as your biggest supporter. Action tip: Decide on an action plan before you meet with your mentor. What could work with your current schedule for you to get the most out of a mentor relationship? Are there any projects you could work on together? Is there a specific part of the company or business world you would love to know more about? Share your plans with your mentor, but be willing to be flexible based on his or her availability. You can choose more than one mentor. Many think they can only choose one mentor at a time, but you can really learn from multiple mentors. This is especially helpful if you cant identify one person with all the qualities and experience you would like to learn. Keep in mind that you may not need one mentor for as long as another, and make sure to let your mentors know that you are being mentored in other areas. This can help them really focus in on the specific areas you want them to help you in. Action tip: If you are having trouble choosing one perfect person to be your mentor, that is OK. Create a list of three people you respect that have qualities you would benefit from learning. Approach them separately and ask them if they would help you with a certain area while others help you in a different area. Follow the same steps as above. We hope this is helpful to you! Gainlo Ask Me Anything From Experienced Interviewers

Gainlo Ask Me Anything From Experienced Interviewers As we are having more and more experienced interviewers in Gainlo, we realized that we can help our users in many ways besides mock interview. Thats why we started our first AMA from experienced interviewers last week, which allows anyone to ask us questions regarding code interview preparation tips and well collect and organize answers from several our most experienced interviews. Now its time for us to share all these answers and we found many of them quite general, so I believe a lot of people will have the same question. 1.  How do you differentiate in an interview the difference between a junior,   mid tier, senior and lead developer? This is a really good question. In an interview, it wont be hard to differentiate between them for experienced interviewers. And here are few common criteria: Technical skills. Its not about knowing more advanced data structures or algorithms. Instead, experienced engineers are more proficient in knowing when and how to use each of them and are clearer about efficiency. A common pattern we see is that experienced engineers usually come up with the high level idea faster. Experiences. Experiences are more than number of years you are in this industry, its evaluated over the whole interview process. Its hard to put any standards on this, but an example might give you more insights. When asking about pros and cons for a solution, experienced engineers will think a lot of things besides efficiency, like scalability, maintenance, testing, readability etc., which are juniors wont be able to consider. Communication. Sometime youll notice that you can tell someones level at company by the way he talks with others. Im not saying higher level people like to issue commands. They are usually more confident when communicating, and can elaborate things clearly. This is a very huge difference and also very important since lead developers will spend a lot of time each time on communicating with other developers. 2.  Is there a concept, algorithm or design principle that allows  a candidate to convey competence or mastery that is impressive enough to overlook other shortcomings? In general, if candidates showed great ability in one area like technical skills, it could be possible to overlook his shortcomings in another area as long as its not something fatal since you wont hire someone wont be able to communicate with others even if he writes perfect codes. Its like a test that have a minimum threshold for each section and the overall score cares. However, if you are looking for something that  can make you convey competence and get much higher chance, the short answer is no.  You cant ask more points for a single question in an exam. And our interviewers regard this as a common pitfall. Many candidates were too eager to show that they know something fancy, but in most cases they knew no more than few terms, which makes things even worse. Also interviewers wont know anything, what they really care about is whether this person showed great skills and abilities to work with me. But skills and abilities are different from knowledge, they are evaluated by the whole interview process instead of whether you know something or not. 3. What are main differences between Google and Facebook interview process? The short answer is that they are very similar and both have a strong focus on basic technical skills like data structure, algorithm, system design, testing and so on. So the general process is that you will have one or two phone screens first, both companies will ask you code online via Google doc or other tools. The questions are easier than on-site and you are expected to write down solution quickly. After that, you will have the on-site interviews which normally take one day with 4-5 rounds. Most of them will ask you to write solid code on white board and discuss with interviewers about code efficiency, optimization etc.. For difficulty, its one of the most common questions about these two companies. We noticed that almost 50% people think Google is more difficult and the rest think Facebook is harder. So in general, its almost equally difficult for them. Google cares system design a little bit more. In system design interview, the interviewer will spend 45min with you to discuss about designing a specific system like how to design a recommended system. You might need to write code in some cases, but the focus is on candidates experiences, analysis ability, technical skills etc. Well cover a detailed guide on how to prepare system design interview later. Facebook expects engineers to have more thoughts  about the company and product. Its common to be asked to talk about your opinions or suggestions on specific feature of Facebook like its timeline or group. And you will also be asked the reason to join Facebook. In terms of the hiring process, its really case by case. It may take 1 week to 1 months to get final decision. For example, if its job hunting season like recently, it usually takes longer time. And if you already have an offer that needs to make a decision soon, the process will also become faster. And both companies are also making changes to their processes recently. To sum up, our interviewers believe that they are quite similar in general and your preparation strategy doesnt need to adjust a lot for them. 4. How to avoid procrastination in interview preparation? There are several ways our interviewers found very effective: Make a detailed preparation timeline in the beginning and stick to it. Try to make this plan as detailed as possible, like everyday from 6-9pm Ill work on Glassdoor. Also have a clear idea about how long you will spend at each  preparation stage. You can check  How To Prepare For an  Interview In One Month  for some ideas. Prepare in pairs. You will feel more pressure when someone is preparing together with you and you will feel less lonely at the same time. Sync about progress regularly and you will feel awful when left behind. Be realistic about your plan. Things like Ill finish all questions on Glassdoor will never work and its also unnecessary. Almost all our interviewers were focused on only several preparation resources, which are way enough for majority of your interviews. Based on your timeline, be honest and realistic about how much you can accomplish each day. 5. What should I say to the interviewer about my work gap when I have been seeking jobs for N years? The short answer is always be honest. But here are more answers you should know from our interviewers: First of all, most interviewers wont care about this at all! At the point you get an interview, your resume is no more than a piece of paper with no use. Weve seen so many cases that candidates with great resume, great experiences in the past have terrible performance in the interview. Nowadays it  cant be easier  to exaggerate your projects on your resume and theres almost no way to check it. So the result is that most interviewers dont really care about it and many interviewers just use it to know your name. Secondly, we suggest people care more about interview preparation instead of things they wont be able to change, like their past experiences. If you have a great performance in the interview, showing your ability to work in this position, you will definitely be hired. Focusing on things you can change makes much more sense. 6.  Please suggest some good books for practicing interview questions in java First of all, in most interviews the language doesnt really matter. Your ability to solve the problem and other soft skills are what really matter. So the first suggestion is just following the common preparation guides and you can write your answer in Java. Even if the answer online is in other languages, you shouldnt have any problem to understand and translate to Java. Secondly, here are some books that can be helpful for Java developers: Java Design Pattern Essentials Effective Java Thinking in Java 7. How can I crack interview for company X? Following the general interview preparation is always the first thing and most important thing you should do, which works for almost all companies weve been asked about, like PayPal, Dropbox, Pinterest etc.. So theres no shortcut and please be really good at those basic knowledge like data structure/algorithms. At the later stage of your preparation, you can adjust your strategy a little bit to be more specific. For example, you can practice with past interview questions from company X and Glassdoor  has a lot of resources. 8.  What are the common c#, windows forms and web application questions asked for senior developer? Although there are tons of resources online, we would highly recommend the following two: The 10 Most Common C# Mistakes Top 50 C# Interview Questions Answers A common pitfall is that a lot of people focus more on syntax instead of concept. For example, if you have worked on asp.net, you should have deep understanding of MVC framework, which is an important concept and is much more worthwhile for you to focus on rather than C# language syntax. Summary Weve covered most of representative questions here and for questions are too specific or marked as private, well answer them privately via email. If you havent  got your answer, please email jake@gainlo.co and we guarantee to answer every single question!

Handy Networking Questions to Establish Rapport

Handy Networking Questions to Establish Rapport Oxlock Fotolia.com Even if youre an extrovert, it can be an unnerving experience to meet a new person, let alone a whole group. Breaking the ice with someone you dont know is a necessary skill in this networking age, and is crucial to both your career and your personal life. Embrace this challenge and have fun getting to know what these people have to offer. I came across a blog post by Rebekah Radice with a list of no-fail questions to establish meaningful relationships on social media, and realized many of them would also work well in face-to-face networking settings. For example, you could ask someone Do you like movies? and then follow up with Rebekahs, Whats one movie you could watch over and over? There are so many genres of movies Im sure youll never hear the same answer twice! Youre sure to learn a lot about the persons personality. (Martins answer: The Italian Job the 1969 original, not the 2003 remake.) She also has, If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do? This will inspire the other person to speak about whats important to them, and will bring more enthusiasm and fun into your conversation. (Martins answer: A spending spree at Holt Renfrew and Harry Rosen, including gifts for all my friends!) Find out if the person prefers cats or dogs. There is no wrong answer, unless of course you happen to be a cat lover or a dog lover. (Martins answer: I love both! I dont have a dog right now because I travel so much.) If you were in a band, what instrument would you play? Whether or not you are musical, every instrument has a personality of its own, and a unique role in the band. (Martins answer: I would play the trumpet because its very powerful and resonating, echoing throughout the space.) If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Food is always a popular topic. (Martins answer: Can beer be a food? Chocolate would also be good it even has some health benefits!) What is your favourite time of the year, and why? (Martins answer: Fall, with its fresh air and beautiful colours (photo). The only downside is that youre sliding into winter.) What sort of questions do you ask when you meet people for the first time? The floor is yours

Without a doubt, I was carrying on with a fly setter way of life where work paid for my living, a marble palaceone unit underneath the penthouse on an inn. I had an individual driver and house keeper. All paid for. The advantages were interminable when it came to living abroad. Ordinarily, I even remained at 5 beginning inn penthouses of nations I ventured out to. Did you know there are 7 star inns out there? I deviate. Sounds like a pleasant life right? I was hopeless. I wept late into the night incalculable evenings. At that point Id wake up following 2 hours of rest to go into work with a grin all over and proceeded on late into the nights going to political capacities. Here and there, I overlooked which nation I was inand in the long run, I dismissed who I was as well. My activity just didnt impact me any more. It wasnt simply the work itself, there was the chief, the associates, the rundown goes on. I simply despised everything about that alluring profession. Following 7 years I realized the time had come to proceed onward, however to what? Do I keep making a cursory effort, getting acclaim and advanced for what felt good for nothing? I felt choked. Suffocated is likely a modest representation of the truth yet there are no different words to depict how hopeless I felt. That was my expert life. I was considerably progressively hopeless in my own life. During the fog of my 33% life emergency, I cut off an association with a person that I thought I would wed. That most likely hurt much more than completion my work contract a year ahead of schedule to return back to the US. Regardless of the way that my own and expert life was self-destructing, I despite everything figured out how to show achievement forward leaps. Inside 24 hours of arriving in the US, I purchased my first condominium and vehicle. Much the same as that. Arrived at the air terminal, registered to my inn, strolled over the road to the real estate agents office, got in her vehicle, looked at the condominium and inside 20 minutes, I put down a strong offer. The following morning, I went to the vendor and purchased my Prius following a brief test drive. Just about 3 years after the fact, still no purchasers regret. Truth be told, inside a month of arriving back in the US that day, I met Mr. Right. Still no purchasers regret on that one as well! So whats my mystery to handling life difficulties? This is the place Reiki and yoga become possibly the most important factor in my life. I had the option to work with so much clearness and tune into my instinct in spite of all the disorder and difficulties around me. Life was wrecked however that didnt mean I needed to remain at absolute bottom for long. It was simply getting out the old so I could set up an increasingly strong establishment. By joining Reiki and yoga in my way of life, I honed my natural aptitudes to where I could settle on such achievement choices with speed, certainty and clearness. The act of Reiki and yoga go connected at the hip as yoga builds the progression of Reiki vitality in an individual's life. Where yoga may assist us with comprehension Reiki in an a lot further way, Reiki may assist us with understanding the more profound energies of yoga. What is reiki yoga? 4 Steps to Creating an Effective Talent Strategy

4 Steps to Creating an Effective Talent Strategy At our most recent series of Director Clubs, we teamed up with experts from Grant Thornton to lead discussions on the current talent landscape. We were able to draw on the findings of Grant Thornton’s ‘People Power’ research to highlight how talent and skills can be one of the biggest accelerators of business growth, but also one of the biggest barriers. This research highlighted that 1 in 2 high growth businesses was currently finding it hard to recruit people with the right skills and more than a third found retaining top talent a challenge. With this in mind, one of the areas we covered was looking at different steps to building an effective talent strategy and addressing these challenges. We talked through the four following steps, based on the framework from management guru David Ulrich’s ‘build versus buy versus borrow’ resourcing approach. 1. Build With more organizations finding it harder to recruit people with the right skills, many are looking to invest in learning and development to build their own talent pipeline from within. Building the skills of existing employees can prevent organizations from needing to ‘buy’ or ‘borrow’ talent. It can also provide the core support needed to ‘bridge’ employees into new roles. Choosing to invest in learning and development can also bring a wealth of other business benefits. It encourages creativity among employees, which will help to fuel innovative ideas and investment into people’s career progression can help to retain high-caliber employees. Investing in building the skills of your employees will also help to bolster your succession pipeline and if you aim to create an inclusive culture of learning, which enables a diverse range of employees to progress, you will help to create a great leadership dynamic in the future. Start by running a skills audit to understand what areas you need to build, both now and in the future. Training people takes time, so being able to plan ahead will help to ensure you have the skills and experience needed at the right time. If you identify an immediate need, buying or borrowing talent is likely to be the better solution. 2. Buy If your organization doesn’t have the capacity or resources to build skills from within, or if you have identified an immediate skills gap, buying new talent by recruiting externally could be the best option. It also has the added benefit of new employees bringing in fresh perspectives, as well as extra skills, which will help to increase innovation. If you do decide to recruit, make sure you are as prepared as possible to compete for the best candidates. Organizations are looking to make their recruitment processes as agile as possible to reduce the risk of an exceptional candidate accepting a competitor’s job in the meantime. They are considering every stage of the candidate experience, as even the smallest thing could be the deciding factor for potential candidates. We are also seeing an increasing number of organizations really looking to invest in building a strong employer brand to gain a competitive advantage. We support our clients in ensuring that they go to market with the most competitive proposition. Salary is no longer the deciding factor for most candidates and there are many other elements of an employer brand which can provide a competitive edge. Factors which make a real difference to people’s every day working life such as benefits packages, flexible working opportunities, the workplace environment, and an o rganization’s culture and values all play a big part in a candidate’s final decision. 3. Borrow In some cases, borrowing talent on a short-term basis can be the best solution, especially if the skills gap identified is only for a particular project or due to an employee on leave. Temporary employees provide an immediate injection of skills and experience without the commitment of buying in a full-time employee. With an increasing number of people choosing to work flexibly, there is a growing network of skilled employees who are available on a temporary basis. As with buying new talent, borrowing talent can also have the added benefit of bringing fresh perspectives. Temps and freelancers are likely to have worked across many different organizations, both in the same industry and outside of it. They can bring experience and knowledge of different systems and processes which could spark ideas you may not even have considered. Borrowing talent can also further support your internal talent building strategy, as existing employees will be able to learn from them while they are with you. 4.Bridge In today’s fast-changing world, some roles may have evolved or even becoming redundant. Part of an effective talent strategy is monitoring for this and looking to ‘bridge’ or support employees into a new position by identifying transferable skills and training opportunities. If suitable positions are not available within the organization, employers should still look to create a positive exit strategy in which the employee is supported to move on. Current and past employees are the biggest advocates of an organization’s employer brand. Their experience of working for you will affect what they say to other people and what they may share through online employer reviews.

Dont wait for retirement to live the good life. Do it now

Dont wait for retirement to live the good life. Do it now Maybe the reason were so bad at saving for retirement is that retirement seems so ridiculous today. The workplace no longer demands that we put off our hopes and dreams until weve worked 40 years. And Baby Boomers arent exactly retiring in droves either, which makes younger people think that maybe they wont want to retire either. This demographic shift in thinking about careers leads to a new way to think about retirement and dream jobs and team work. Young people think their parentsBaby Boomersmissed out on this phase. Baby Boomers worked longer hours than any other generation and theres a nagging feeling that it wasnt all that necessary that we can have engaging, rewarding careers without spending such a large percentage of our life at the office. In fact, today theres an intense peer pressure among young people to find the fulfilling dream job right away. This younger generation watched their parents put off their dreams until they paid their dues only to find themselves laid off mid-career, or underfunded for retirement late in their career. So Generation Y is not waiting. Andre Blackman typifies his generation when he writes on his blog, Antibio.tech, that, If you work hard and keep pursuing your goals, things fall into place. He is, of course, talking about those first few years out of college. Then he describes his own dream job as not about money or prestige but about working with cool people who really know their stuff. The dream job for many people in the new workplace is a steep learning curve and freedom to contribute to the company in ways that are unique to oneself. Adam Copeland is an employee at Mirror Image, an Internet content delivery network. He has changed jobs within his company and he explains that the genesis of each move was the desire to increase his learning curve. Im not even 30 yet, he says, I wanted to try something different. After a while, Copeland also found another way to create fulfilling work throughout a career rather than just at the end: Time for fun and travel. I dont need a castle and a moat, he says, in a nod to the baby boomer tendency to work long hours for a huge home and put off enjoying it until later. Id rather have something in the realm of time to travel, Copeland says. For Copeland, fulfillment is a lifestyle that balances interesting work and interesting breaks. And this balance gives rise to the type of job that is fulfilling for its ability to compromise on many levels to get the benefits of work and play right now, without waiting. For others, a dream job is contributing to the community in a way that matters. Its impractical to wait until the end of ones careerto retire from work and then start doing good. If nothing else, its a long time to wait to do good. Sam Davidson, who blogs at Cool People Care, wrote the Gen-Y bible on instigating change for a practical generation. You can talk all day long about big change with big results. But what Davidson points out in his book, New Day Revolution, is that there are hundreds of smaller and probably easier steps we can take to make the world a better place. Davidson describes a lifestyle of micro change that can help you save the world. Davidson focuses on a 24-hour period that most jobs can accommodate. Which means that any job can be a job that fulfills ones need to make a difference, because anyone can use Davidsons steps to save the world in 24 hours. For Baby Boomers, the workplace competition was about money, and the material things that represent ones earnings (after all, its so uncouth to talk about it). But Generation Y sees the competition as about fulfillment, and they are determined to get it. In his post about his new dream job, Blackman writes, And now if you will excuse me, I must break out into my secret victory dance one more time . . . . But maybe the most important thing to remember is that you dont need a dream job to be happy. Your job cannot be a stand-in for relationships and people who care about you. A good job facilitates those relationships and often that is the sole reason that a once-quirky job now suddenly becomes reasonable and stable.

10 Tips For The Newbies Leading Successfully For The First Time

10 Tips For The Newbies Leading Successfully For The First Time So, here it is. Your promotion. You have been waiting for it so long. You’ve dreamed about it, you’ve imagined it, you’ve found thousands of ideas how to tell you mom about it. But what comes next? What should you do to lead your team successfully? What traces of character determine a good team lead? How can you become a person everyone is ready to follow?Being a team lead is not only about management and control, although these are perhaps the basic parts of the job. A team lead is a person who is ready to protect, share experience, make other people share experience, tutor, and survive in any situation. Some people will tell that it is impossible to teach someone to become a leader. We believe that it is possible to create a leadership background for any person. Everything else depends on how a person needs to change his way of behavior.Secrets of leadership: Becoming an Effective Team LeadevalThere are actually two types of people on our planet. Those who believe that they ca n guide the whole world, and those who even do not think about that. Our recommendations are useful for both these types. For the first type, it will be good to systematize their feelings and thoughts, for the second type â€" to explain to them that they can become leaders as well.1. What’s your focus?Perhaps, the most common mistake any new team lead does is starting to focus on tasks and achievements. But team lead must use another weapon â€" communication. He is responsible for building the relationship inside a team. If you have 10 colleagues in your team, make sure that everyone understands what he does and what other people do.Build a communication strategy, make your team understand each other. And of course, make your team understand that you are by their side and you are ready to support them and stand for their ideas. Keep your people in focus.2. Everyone makes mistakesIn some parallel universe, people make no mistakes. But in our universe mistakes are a common thing whi ch sometimes happens to everyone. If someone in your team made a mistake, do not make quick decisions. Maybe it was you who explained task in the way a mistake occurred. Take some time, analyze the situation, and find the solution to the problem. And do not forget to find the solution for avoiding the same mistake again.3. TalkA bad team lead is the one who never talks. A team lead should talk to his team. The analysis is great, but you should share the results with your colleges. If you cannot find a solution to some problem, just talk to your people. They can give you more than you can expect.4. ListenAnother side of a good team lead is listening. A person who is capable of listening and hearing can change the world. Do not be deaf. 5. Do not be greedyA good work is what you expect from any person in your team. But does it mean you do not need to notice that? Absolutely not. Words are a perfect motivation for everyone. As a team lead, you need to give a feedback both for the achie vements and the failures. Do not turn into one of those people who never say good words to their teams.6. Became a judgeevalEven if you have never dreamed of a career in law, now it is time to make some steps in it. Judging will be one of the skills you need to master, especially if you are working in a big team. Unfortunately, conflicts and confrontations are the inevitable part of any team. And you need to make everything possible to stop conflicts when they are still small and almost unnoticeable. Be a judge: look at the situation, try to understand who is wrong here, and never be prejudiced.7. Do not be afraid to DelegateNew team leads never delegate their issues. They believe that delegation makes them look worse in the eyes of their bosses. In fact, delegation is just another key responsibility of a good team lead. Delegation does not mean that someone else will make your job just because you told so. When you delegate some issues, you can understand what your team members are capable of. Perhaps, someone is ready for promotion.8. Ask if you do not know somethingIf you do not know something about working processes, just ask. No one judges you because you ask something, but everyone judges if you don’t ask. Stay hungry, stay foolish â€" these are the words you need to keep in mind. Ask for help if you need it, ask for an advice if you need it, ask for support if you need it.9. Timing is everythingevalBe effective with your timing from the first days on a new position. Time is the most precious thing. Timing is not about meeting deadlines. Make your team feel comfortable with time. Control everything your team members do to be able to set a proper timing for the next task.10. Devil is in the detailsAlways pay attention to the details. It will help build your own strategy for leading a team. Details are important in work, in communication, in behavior. So be attentive: those small details can make your leading a paradise or turn it into a burning hell.
